Add a custom date field ("Expected Delivery Date") to the Send Quote dialog
Summary
The customer wants to add a custom date field ("Expected Delivery Date") to the Send Quote dialog, alongside Expires At, Expiry Notification At, and Shipping Type. This field should be mandatory (blocking quote send if empty), stored at the quote level, and available as a template variable for use in quote templates, HTML widgets, and email templates. The field is needed to capture delivery expectations at the moment a quote is sent, and to sync this data downstream to their ERP system.
Steps to Reproduce
To be confirmed with customer.
Expected Behaviour
A custom date field for expected delivery date appears in the Send Quote dialog
The field is marked as mandatory (red asterisk indicator)
The Confirm button is disabled until the field is populated
The date value is stored at the quote level
The field is available as a template variable (e.g.,
{{quote.expectedDeliveryDate}}) for use in quote templates, HTML widgets, and email templatesThe field value can be synced to integrated systems (Autotask, Profit)
Actual Behaviour
No custom date fields can be added to the Send Quote dialog. Only the standard fields (Expires At, Expiry Notification At, Shipping Type) are available.
Impact
The customer cannot enforce capture of expected delivery dates at the moment quotes are sent, which blocks their ability to automate downstream processes in their ERP system. This creates a manual workaround and increases risk of incomplete or inconsistent quote data. Blocking: no workaround exists to add mandatory custom fields to the Send Quote dialog.
What Was Investigated
Not yet investigated.
Proposed Priority
Medium / This is a feature request, not a bug. The customer has a valid business need (delivery date capture and downstream sync), and the requested functionality (custom mandatory fields in dialogs with template variable support) would enhance the quoting workflow. However, it requires new platform capability and is not blocking core functionality.
