Contract duration/term on TEMPLATE level

Title: Set contract duration per template and require it to be confirmed on each quote

Problem: We sell recurring services on 12, 24 and 36-month terms. Contract duration has one global default (12 months), and it can only be changed on each individual quote. There is no way to set it on a template and no way to make it a required field. When a rep quotes a 24- or 36-month agreement, they have to remember to change the duration in Manage Settings, and this is regularly forgotten.

Impact:

  • Quotes go out with the wrong term, so the contract term total and the commercial terms the client sees are wrong.

  • Errors are only caught at review, or by the client, or after the quote is won and the agreement is set up.

  • We rely on reps' memory for something that affects the value and length of the agreement.

Requested:

  1. Contract duration as a template setting. A quote created from a template inherits that template's duration, so a "36-month managed services" template creates 36-month quotes. The global default still applies to templates without their own setting.

  2. Required confirmation of contract duration. Either make it a mandatory field when a quote is created, or ask the rep to confirm the term before the quote can be sent. This could be an option admins turn on.

Acceptance criteria:

  • An admin can set contract duration on a template.

  • A new quote from that template shows the template's duration, not the global default.

  • An admin can require the contract duration to be confirmed before a quote is sent.

  • Existing quotes and templates keep their current behavior unless changed.

Current workaround: A hidden reminder widget at the top of each template, plus checking the contract term total before sending. This helps but still depends on the rep noticing.

Setting contract duration on a template so a quote inherits the right term, and being able to require it to be confirmed before a quote is sent, is a real gap today, since duration is one global default changed per quote. It is one request on this card so far, so I am leaving it open for votes. There is an open card, "Contract duration", with more votes that you can add to, so the demand stays in one place.
