Cover Letter variable that can be used in email templates

What we are thinking here is a specialised widget that allows the body text of a cover letter to be used as a variable in an email template

Currently we write our cover letter, then copy that text into the email that goes out to the cutomer

If a variable was available, that would solve this manual step
