Opportunities - options to get a reminder when close to expiary if no quote linked

Opportunities - options to get a reminder when close to expiry if no quote is attached. Some of our senior account managers with bigger clients will open opportunities, but not link to a quote as the client is not ready to quote. This is for setting expected pipeline and big projects that are going to be done down the line, which will take some time to be approved internally on the client side due to budget approvals and grant approvals. We would like an email reminder for said opportunities if they are about to expire.

we use CW, and while we can set this up on workflow what will happen is the guys will extend the opportunity on CW, but it does not push back into CW, causing the data and pipeline to be incorrect on SalesBuilder, and I need one place of truth. Having an email reminder on this is one place to start - please do come back to me with any other ideas for this
